The International Summer Academy of Music
The International Summer Academy of Music (ISAM) was founded in 2005 by three musicians: composer and musicologist Joseph Dorfman (1940-2006), pianist and pedagogue Lily Dorfman, and composer and Jewish music scholar Ofer Ben-Amots. Since its first years in Michelstadt, Germany, ISAM has quickly developed and gained the reputation as a top-quality institution for creativity and musicianship. In 2010, ISAM moved to its new location at the Landesmusikakademie Baden-Württemberg in Ochsenhausen, Germany and is pleased to have distinguished organist and composer Professor Jürgen Essl join the faculty.
ISAM’s two-week summer academy deepens musical skills and expands musical horizons through high level workshops, seminars, lectures, concerts and competitions. Aimed at young and gifted musicians from across the globe, ISAM encourages a coming-together of minds. Daily individual lessons and numerous performance opportunities culminate in final competitions for piano, organ, and composition judged by an international panel of ISAM faculty and invited guests.
